Honest emotion

Our assignment was to go out and take pictures of honest emotion. This could be any emotion, between any people. I walked around my apartment complex and heard three girls laughing and making jokes. I walked down to their porch and asked if I could join the conversation. I sat down and realized they were talking about high school and laughing about their past. The three girls have lived together for the last year while going to college. They have become best friends and it is obvious by their conversation. We sat on their small porch in freezing weather and laughed until our stomachs hurt, including mine. The woman in the main picture is, Lindsay Troeppl, 23-year-old Western student. The two women beside her were Monica Elder, 21-year-old Bellingham resident, and Alex Payne, 21-year-old Whatcom student.

Portrait

For this assignment, we were told to take a picture of someone in their environment. I had a lot of trouble with this project because I attempted to use film and in the end it was the night before it was due and I had no pictures. I did what I had to, woke up early found a great woman to take pictures of and found out more about her business. She happened to be saying good-bye to her business partner that day, so she was changing the board out front to say "We will miss you Sharee, Thanks for all the fun times!"

Project two

Icebreaker

We were told to go out and take pictures of six different people and ask them all the same question. The question was, "All things being equal, what would your dream job be?"

And this is what I came up with...
"The captain of a boat, The captain of my boat!"
"Help people of all ages learn to read."
"I would be a preschool or kindergarten teacher, I just love kids."
"I would like to teach. I want to help people by teaching when I am older"
"I would be a philanthropist and bless people with money."
"An Astronaut. I would be an Astronaut."

Project One

Our first assignment in Photojournalism seemed like it would be easy. I was easily fooled I guess. The assignment was to get a disposable camera and starting shooting, whatever we wanted.

I went downtown and jumped right in with my $7 dollar disposable camera and a notebook. I ran into a man downtown name William and he had recently moved here from Tuscan. He was an interesting guy, so I took some pictures, winding my camera after each shot. I was happy with my progress and I moved on with 18 shots left. I got through the rest of my film, happy with what I had done.

My film was developed and I was shocked by the outcome. Majority (18/24) of my pictures were too dark to even work with. Photoshop couldn't even help. Luckily, my first photo op of the day paid off and I ended up with a great picture in the end. But who woulda though.... take away all technology and this is what you get. I am now thankful for my film camera that does not require a wind between each picture.

Heres the chosen one...
